On July 15, 2026, World of Hyatt and Air Canada’s Aeroplan launched a reciprocal loyalty partnership. Buried in the press release is the most aggressive hotel status shortcut currently on the market: eligible Aeroplan members can register a 90-day status challenge and earn Globalist in 20 nights instead of 60.
Globalist is widely regarded as the strongest top-tier hotel status in the industry — confirmed suite upgrades, free breakfast for up to four, club lounge access, 4 PM checkout, and waived resort fees. Cutting the qualification by two-thirds changes the math for almost every traveler.

Details, conditions and things to watch
Who qualifies. Aeroplan 25K, 35K, 50K, 75K or Super Elite members, plus eligible Aeroplan premium credit cardholders in Canada. Accounts must be linked before you register.
Deadline. Register by December 31, 2026 on Hyatt’s offer page. The 90-day clock starts at registration — not at your first stay — so don’t register before your travel is booked.
Immediate upside. Members holding no status or Discoverist receive trial Explorist benefits for the full 90 days.
Validity. Status earned runs through the remainder of the registration calendar year plus the following 14 months. Register in late 2026 and you are covered into early 2028.
Which nights count. Tier-Qualifying Nights at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide, participating Mr & Mrs Smith properties, and eligible stays at The Venetian Las Vegas booked through Hyatt channels.
Attempts. One per calendar year; two for Aeroplan premium cardholders.
The catch. Status earned through a challenge does not trigger Hyatt Milestone Rewards — those still require genuinely earned qualifying nights.
The Marriott backdoor
You don’t need to fly Air Canada. Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and Ambassador Elite members receive complimentary Aeroplan 25K through Marriott’s Air Canada partnership — which makes them Aeroplan elites, and therefore eligible for this challenge.

Platinum, Gold and Silver members are not eligible, and Marriott trial statuses such as “Taste of Elite” are explicitly excluded.
The American Airlines route (watch this space)
Aeroplan isn’t the only airline that opens a Hyatt Globalist Challenge. For three straight years, American Airlines and Hyatt have run a near-identical offer each fall: AAdvantage Gold and above receive instant trial Explorist for 90 days, 10 nights locks in Explorist, and targeted Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members can reach Globalist at 20 nights. Registration for the 2025 edition closed on October 31, 2025.
As of late August 2026, this year’s version has not been announced. It normally appears in early August, so if you hold AAdvantage status, check the Promotions tab of your account — and link your AAdvantage and World of Hyatt accounts now, since linking is a prerequisite and takes a few minutes.
